Live Music by:
– Maria do Mar – violin

As stated by Vertov, Man With a Movie Camera is “an experiment in the cinematic transmission of visual phenomena… without intertitles… without a script… without sets, actors, etc” or, in other words, Pure Cinema.

The live soundtrack we propose is just like that: Pure Music.

Post-MIA Jam Session at Lisbon

Post-MIA Jam
Post-MIA Free Improvisation Jam – Participants

Keeping the record…

Inspired by last year’s Post-MIA jam, Carlo Mascolo, Maria do Mar and I proposed Desterro to repeat it once more. If we do it again for one or two more years, it will inevitably become a tradition: the Post-MIA Jam Session in Lisbon, featuring the MIA participants that were still around and every Lisbon based musician that wants to join.

We were worried about the neighbours and suggested to the musicians to control their volume and keep the music below mezzo-forte dynamics, and it worked amazingly well: helped to maintain conscious playing the whole night, and the music did not stop until about 4am.

This is the last post of 2015 and, with Orrù, Mar, Rocha“Live at MIA 2015” (EndTitles) – we’re at the best of list compiled by Dave Foxall’s at A Jazz Noise.

The Orrù, Mar, Rocha trio was born at MIA, a big festival/meeting of improvised music at a Atouguia da Baleia a tiny city in Portugal by suggestion of Paulo Chagas – one of the festival’s curator and producer. It was a pleasure to play and we decided to keep it flowing, release that recording and play more.

Orrù Mar Rocha – Live at MIA 2015

Orrù Mar Rocha Trio, recorded live at MIA 2015 and beautifully released by the Swiss label EndTitles.

The trio was brought to life by Paulo Chagas, the curator and the commander-in-chief along with Fernando Simões, of MIA – a festival that takes place every May in Atouguia da Baleia, Portugal. He invited us to play at the old St. Joseph’s Church for the opening of the festival and we’ve met just before the concert, while sound checking.

It worked so well that we settled as a trio and EndTitles decided to release the recording of that concert.

Here’s the info about it and pre-orders are available here.

We are:
Adriano Orrù – contra bass
Maria do Mar – violin
Luiz Rocha – clarinet/bass clarinet
