Man With a Movie Camera (1929) Dziga Vertov

Live Music by:
– Maria do Mar – violin
– Maria Radich – voice
– Luiz Rocha – clarinet and bass clarinet
– José Bruno Parrinha – alto sax and bass clarinet
– Álvaro Rosso – doublebass

As stated by Vertov, Man With a Movie Camera is “an experiment in the cinematic transmission of visual phenomena… without intertitles… without a script… without sets, actors, etc” or, in other words, Pure Cinema.

The live soundtrack we propose is just like that: Pure Music.

Rui Eduardo Paes from Jazz.pt explains it very well here:

Post-MIA Jam Session at Lisbon

Keeping the record…

Inspired by last year’s Post-MIA jam, Carlo Mascolo, Maria do Mar and I proposed Desterro to repeat it once more. If we do it again for one or two more years, it will inevitably become a tradition: the Post-MIA Jam Session in Lisbon, featuring the MIA participants that were still around and every Lisbon based musician that wants to join.

We were worried about the neighbours and suggested to the musicians to control their volume and keep the music below mezzo-forte dynamics, and it worked amazingly well: helped to maintain conscious playing the whole night, and the music did not stop until about 4am.
